Caston Parish Council would like to thank all the people who kindly replied to the survey sent out with the August Waylander Magazine, on the notice boards and on the website. This asked all the Parishioners of Caston if they would like to have a special event to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, over the special Bank Holiday weekend at the beginning of June next year.

Nearly 200 leaflets were sent out, and at the time of writing (7th Sept), 20 have been returned. There are quite a few offers of help. The suggested ideas have been counted and others noted. There is no shortage of ideas.

Caston Village Fete will be held on Saturday June 2nd. The organisers of this event may not have enough time or energy, to also organise a Jubilee event over the same weekend.

If the Jubilee event is to take place, it will need a dedicated committee of organisers specific to the event. This could be made up of the few people already offering their help, but this may not be enough. Also more people would be needed beforehand and on the actual day to do various jobs.

This is the last call for help to run an event separate to the Village Fete. The event for all the Parishioners of Caston would be funded by the Parish Council, by donations from local people and with funds from an historic event.

If you have not yet volunteered and you really enjoy or have skills in event organising, please let the Parish Council know by: - telephoning a Parish Councillor (as posted on the PC notice board on the Village Hall), by E-mailing the Clerk on:, by coming to the next parish council meeting or by posting a note into the post-box on the Village Hall wall. Age is irrelevant, what is needed are your skills, time, enthusiasm and most of all dedication to create a memorable event for all.

The final decision as to whether to hold a special Diamond Jubilee event will be decided at the next Parish Council meeting on Monday October 3rd at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. Please come along and offer your advice or help and meet other volunteers.
